The Royal Christmas Cards from Prince Charles and Princess Diana were deemed Important enough that they were always sent to the few fortunate recipients via Registered Mail. The Christmas Card, was selected by Prince Charles and Princess Diana, in 1985, for personalized inscription and signing for a few select friends. Accordingly, these were Treasured Royal Gifts.

Shown is Prince Charles, dressed in Kilts, with Princess Diana seated on a swing holding the future heir to the British throne, Prince William. One of these select few Christmas Cards that Charles and Diana sent was presented to a friend of Raleigh DeGeer Amyx by Royal Capt. James Perowne. Capt. Perowne was gracious enough to later present the gift to Mr. Amyx - for his well-known International Collection.

The friend of Mr. Amyx was, Capt. James Perowne of the British Royal Navy. In the 1980s, when Amyx and Perowne were well acquainted the Royal Gift was Presented. Raleigh DeGeer Amyx and James Perowne are pictured at the time (circa 1980's) another Royal presentation was being made by Capt. Perowne to Mr. Amyx. the particular gift illustrated below has to do with an Inscribed Signed Photo to Capt. Perrone from Prince Charles and Princess Diana.....later being gifted to The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection AKA The American Heritage Collection.

Capt. Perowne was later stationed at the British Embassy in Washington, DC. James Perowne and Prince Charles had become close friends when the two served aboard a Royal Ship during Prince Charles's time in the Royal Navy. Following their Royal Service together the two sometimes shared hand-written correspondence, always via Registered Mail.
Later, when Charles met Diana, he invited James Perowne to serve as an Usher at their Royal Wedding. Accordingly, Capt. Perowne was invited to any and all functions having to do with the Royal Wedding; such as the reception, rehearsals and private parties. Later, when the Prince and Princess visited the British Embassy in America, Captain Perrone was invited by Prince Charles to be received at the British Embassy in Washington, DC.
