Bess Truman and Harry S Truman chose, in 1951,this Classic example for their Official White House China. Depicted below is a beautiful 11.375" Service Plate, by Lenox, Inc., of Trenton, New Jersey. By an Executive Order of October 25, 1945, President Harry S Truman ordered up the final details of a standardized Presidential Seal design and directed same Seal to be used henceforth. By 1951, a new State Dining Room Service was determined to be needed, in part, to complement the total restoration during the period 1948-1952 of The White House, to include the State Dining Room.

The principal design elements of the Elegant Truman China are a wideband soft green between Gold; and the outer rim has a Gold band etched with a cable or chain motif. The Presidential Seal is rendered in a prominent Gold 3-D like effect. This Presidential Seal was then placed on each piece of the total of 120 piece Place Settings of the Truman White House China. However, The Presidential Seal was prominently displayed in the exact center of the Service Plate only.
