Exquisite Hand-Accomplished Beaded Suede Moccasins Late 19th Century. These Moccasins were created by an Artistic Kickapoo Indian sometime around 1875. The Kickapoos are believed to branch-off from the Iroquois Tribe. Today it is believed that Less than one thousand Kickapoos survive, in The United States.
GEORGEOUS NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN MOCCASINS - CIRCA 1875 KICKAPOO INDIANS
The word Moccasin originated in America, approximately 1610 - and came from The Algonquin Tribe. Moccasins are a heel-less shoe made entirely of soft leather, such as Deerskin. The Sole is then brought up and attached to a piece of U-shaped leather right on the top of the foot. And then the Native American Artwork begins. When done as perfectly as this pair are, they are without question, a work of Art - even more so, 135 years after the fact.
A RADIANT NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN IN ELEGANT REPOSE - NATIVE AMERICANS SUCH AS THIS CREATED THE BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART THAT IS FEATURED WITHIN
These beautiful Indian Moccasins were an important addition to The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection (A.K.A.) The American Heritage Collection. Later this exquisite pair will be shared with an Institution or another Collector of note.

FIRST LADY - ABIGAIL ADAMS
MUSEUM QUALITY RELICS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER
The five photos above, including the collage, Illustrate First Lady Abigail Adams' (1744-1818) beautiful Needle Case with pieces of lace and fabric (pictured below) from her dress. This historic dress and lace was what the First Lady wore at the time Gilbert Stuart so proficiently painted her for posterity. Abigail Adams is pictured below wearing the actual Lace from The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection. Exquisitely embroidered by Abigail Adams and a remarkable and important collection of important items; which not only belonged but were created and made by Abigail Adams - Only the Second First Lady of the United States.

FIRST LADY ABIGAIL ADAMS WEARING THE HISTORIC LACE ILLUSTRATED ABOVE AND BELOW
Included are two dress fabric Adams remnants & two different pieces of delicate lace trim, impeccably documented by an 1876 note (pictured below both left & right) from her very own Grand-Daughter, Elizabeth Coombs Adams (1808-1903), as well as a beautifully embroidered silk Sewing Case, also belonging to Abigail Adams. The famous Gilbert Stuart Portrait, of Abigail Adams, now in the National Art Gallery; shows her wearing a lace shawl with identical Lace Trim which can clearly be seen in the middle of her right shoulder as well as on the trim of The First Lady's right lower shoulder.
The Hand Written Note Reads...
"Mass - July 1876 -- Piece of Reps Silk Dress Worn by Abigail Adams in London, Wife of John Adams, Minister to the Court of Saint James, Coming Home to Quincy (Mass) in 1787; and Bought the Homestead which has had Five Adams Generations Living in it. The Silk Dress and Long Train were Left to my Mother in Abigail's Will. The Reps Silk with the Pink Dots (A Remnant of this Piece is Featured in Center Photo Above) and Garnet Satin Dress, that She is Painted in Stuarts portrait, now belongs to Charles F. Adams' and I have the Old Lace Scarf back from the Old State House in Philadelphia where we sent things for the Centennial (1876). E.C.A. (Elizabeth Coombs Adams)."
It is difficult to imagine more impressive socumentation for such magnificient and historical early 19th century personal artifacts of any of America's Founding First Families.
The Elegant Needle Case is of a stiff fabric (when fully opened it measures 3.5"x10") which was covered with off-white silk, on which a floral decoration was embroidered on each side by Abigail Adams. It all folds open, rather like a wallet, and contains various compartments for sewing implements. The Needle Case was obtained together with the other items, and it is accompanied by another note, in another hand, which is illustrated - reading...
"Needle Case Belonging to Abigail Adams."
Abigail Adams was one of our most Famous Americans and important First Ladies; and items owned by this remarkable woman are, perhaps, as significant as those of Martha Washington - And actually scarcer. Dramatic Museum quality with superior hand-written documentation of authenticity, as authored by the loving and caring Grand-Daughter of John and Abigail Adams - "E.C.A. - Elizabeth Coombs Adams".

SUPERIOR PROVENANCE IN THE FORM OF HANDWRITTEN DOCUMENTATION VIA THE GRANDDAUGHTER OF ABIGAIL ADAMS ELIZABETH COOMBS ADAMS
This impressive piece of history has been in The Collection of Raleigh DeGeer Amyx (a.k.a.) The American Heritage Collection for over a quarter of a century. In the near future it will be shared with an Institution or another collector of note.

In 1835, Houston was chosen as Commander of the Texas Army in its bid for Independence from Mexico. In 1836, Houston met Mexican General Santa Anna in a victorious & decisive battle. A VIVID CLOSE-UP OF THE TOUCHING POEM - IN THE FIRM HAND OF TEXAN SAM HOUSTON
Houston was elected as the First President of the Republic of Texas. By 1845, Texas was admitted to The Union. He was then the first man from Texas to be elected to The United States Senate. In 1859, Houston became Governor of Texas. Sam Houston fought hard to prevent Texas from seceding from the Union. For this, he was deposed in 1861, when he refused to swear Allegiance to The Confederacy. Sam Houston’s health then quickly deteriorated, until finally he was struck with a severe chill which developed into Pneumonia. Sadly, he passed away in 1863, before he could see His beloved Texas still a part of America. Sam Houston died quietly with his devoted wife, Margaret by his side. Houston’s last words were, “Texas, Texas. Margaret”. Sam Houston's poem reads, " Texas --- Women is lovely to the sight, as gentle as the dews of eve, as bright as mornings earliest light, And spotless in the snow of Heaven. - Sam Houston"

Nancy and Ronald Reagan, after close study, chose absolutely Stunning Official 1982 White House China. Several examples of their Dramatic State Dinner Service can be found in The Collection of Raleigh DeGeer Amyx…… Generally accepted as one the Top-Two Collectors of Official White House China in The United States. This White House China Collection has often been referred to as The American Heritage Collection.
NANCY & RONALD REAGAN CHOSE THIS STUNNING EXAMPLE AS THEIR 1982 OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE CHINA
The Reagan China arrived at the White House in 1982, after being selected to be manufactured by Lenox, of Trenton, New Jersey. With only one exception, The Lyndon B. Johnson's China, Lenox has been chosen as the Official supplier of White House China since Woodrow Wilson's beautiful Lenox China pattern in 1918.

IT TOOK NINE SEPARATE FIRINGS OF GILT BEFORE THE PRESIDENTIAL ARMS TOOK ON SUCH A MAGNIFICENT 3-D EFFECT
The Scarlet Red color was selected specifically by First Lady Nancy Reagan; in part for her fondness of Red. Also, Scarlet Red provided a bright accent to the white paneled walls as well as the Gilded accessories of the White House State Dining Room. Mrs. Reagan personally approved the sketches for each and every Stunning piece........and even made the final decision about how the Golden Ribbed Banding should be appropriately as well as elegantly applied.
The gorgeous Presidential Arms, in the dramatic center of the Service Plate, was hand-applied in raised gold paste. An unheard of 40 separate handlings; and an equally unheard of 9 separate Gilt Firings were required to create this Magnificient Historic Example. The Ronald and Nancy Reagan Official White House Service, for 220 people, came in at a cost of $210,399.00. However unfairly, some members of the press had a field day with this. There must have been little other news for them to report because some weighed in heavily on the Reagans over this cost. Was the media criticism fair? Not really! For you see, this Offical White House China Service was actually paid for by significant contributions from dear friends of the President and First Lady.

THE PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY ENJOY EACH OTHER'S COMPANY ON A WHITE BENCH ON THE SOUTH LAWN OF THE WHITE HOUSE
After all was said and done the historic fact leans toward this: Perhaps no other First Family ever left such an appealing selection of Official White House China for the permanent use and Collection of The White House than Nancy and Ronald Reagan. Absolutely Stunnning!
RONALD REAGAN ENJOYING ONE OF HIS FAVORITE PAST-TIMES WHILE IN CALIFORNIA AS THE PRESIDENT
The House China featured here is in The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection (a.k.a.) The American Heritage Collection. The Amyx collection also has other Reagan pieces as well as numerous other Official White House China pieces within the collection. In fact the Amyx Collection is either the most prolific Official White House China Collection in existence or it runs a close second. From time to time Mr. Amyx will trade a piece of historical china to other collectors of note. Occasionally he does sell a few pieces, although his primary goal is to continue collecting this important arena of American history.
