Ike's Rolex was located recently. This 18K Gold Rolex may very well be the most Important time-piece on the Planet. It was worn by President Eisenhower, almost daily, throughout his 1953-1960 Tenure as Commander in Chief - at The White House. However, this Presidential Rolex was actually presented to General Eisenhower while he was the NATO Commander in 1950.
ROLEX SELECTED - GENERAL DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER -TO BE THE RECEPIENT OF THE 150,00TH ROLEX THEY MANUFACTURED
This was an important presentation on the part of Rolex in that this Rolex was the 150,000th Rolex ever manufactured by them. The 100,000th Rolex had previously been presented to Sir Winston Churchill. Therefore, Rolex obviously considered certain Manufacturing Milestone's as being of major significance. In addition the present day terminology - "Presidential Rolex" - is believed to have been taken from the historic fact that General Eisenhower was the first President to ever wear such a distinctive timepiece.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT CLOSE-UP OF PRESIDENT EISENHOWER WEARING THE 150,00TH ROLEX ON HIS LEFT WRIST
General Dwight David Eisenhower wore this Rolex from the time of its 1950 Presentation until his death in 1969. Before his death, President Eisenhower saw to it that it was given to his longtime Aide and Valet - Sgt. John Moaney. In a Book, Authored by President Eisenhower, entitled "At Ease - Stories I Tell To Friends", Eisenhower described Moaney as a man indispensable to him during his life-time. An Exalted measure of praise for his friend and confidant from the time of their World War 11 1942 meeting until Ike's Death in 1969. Ike and Moaney were with each other daily for 27 consecutive years.

Early in 1861, Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln discussed the important selection of their, soon to be, Official White House China. Mary Todd Lincoln, (1818–1882), is believed to be the very first, First Lady to play an Assertive role in choosing White House China & Furnishings for The Executive Mansion. The Lincoln's selected an impressive and historic choice. A Total Classic! The President and First Lady definitely made a statement. This recent discovery of additional 1861 Lincoln White House China, after a 30 year quest, finally made its way to America's most prolific White House China Collection - The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection (A.K.A.) The American Heritage Collection.
RECENTLY DISCOVERED ABRAHAM AND MARY TODD LINCOLN DINNER PLATE - IN ALL IT'S STUNNING - SOLFERINO - SPLENDOR
This State Dinner Service was French; imported and decorated by The E. V. Haughwout Company, New York. Mr. Haughwout and Talented Staff hand-painted the Eagle and Clouds, the Gilt decoration as well as the color of Solverino (Royal Purple). The initial order of which this Stunning Lincoln Plate is one, was for 190 Official pieces. Mrs. Lincoln's Elegant Choice of White House China has been much appreciated by all First Families; as well as being coveted by advanced collectors for 150 years.
PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN
At the beginning of the 2nd term of the Abraham Lincoln Administration, Mary Todd Lincoln ordered, with a tone of urgency, the below Buff set of French Haviland China for use at the Executive Mansion. This China also became known as Official White House China. It was to feature more modest decoration and to be more simple in design than The First Lady's previously ordered Elegant Solferino (Royal Purple) China of 1861. Only three months prior to the Assassination of President Lincoln, did this Buff China Set finally arrive at The White House. When Andrew Johnson assumed the Presidency, the Buff China below was, in very specific writing, turned over to that Administration. Today, a number of examples of the above Solverino (Royal Purple) China remain at The White House as well as at the Smithsonian Institution and The Library of Congress. Perhaps the best Lincoln Buff China example of the entire Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln order can be seen below.
RARE 10" SERVING BOWL OF THE LINCOLN BUFF CHINA
The above Lincoln Buff China is in The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection. It features a Rare 10" Buff covered serving piece. Mrs. Lincoln's urgent order was for this Wide Band Buff and Gold on White Porcelain. There was a Particular Hue to the Buff on the Original White House order. The elegant serving dish featured here was known in the original early 1865 Lincoln Buff Order as one of just four serving pieces described as: " A vegetable dish with cover." The above pictured attractive example survives intact; and in near pristine condition. This Stunning Vegetable Dish came to The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection via Historian and Author, Robert Doares, of Williamsburg, Virginia.
THE FIRST LADY - MARY TODD LINCOLN - SHE HAD MAJOR SAY IN ALL PORCELAIN COLLECTION
Prior to its release to The Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection, the Buff China rested at The White House so that the Graceful Lid, in particular, could be examined by William Allman, The White House Curator. There, in The White House, the two Gentlemen (Allman and Doares) met to discuss the Lincoln Buff China order; and Specifically, to discuss the Two Primary issues: 1. To Confirm, as closely as possible, the appropriate shade of the Hue of the Buff and; 2. To determine that the Maker of this Lincoln Acquisition to The White House China Collection, in early 1865, was indeed the Haviland Company. After Doares and Allman's caring and dual examination, this Lincoln Buff Vegetable Serving Bowl and Lid was enroute to Raleigh DeGeer Amyx for inclusion into his Official White House China Collection.

Often Raleigh DeGeer Amyx adds additional Official White House China pieces to his Collection. And at the conclusion of this offering is a method made available to reach him directly. Only if Mr. Amyx has multiple pieces of the same pattern does he ever part with a major piece of historical porcelain. Direct contact with specifics are the best way to arrange a telephone conference.

IN AMERICAN HISTORY - BABE DIDRIKSON

Babe Didrikson (1914-1956) – Shown above is an approximate 7" x 8" sepia-tone image of Babe Didrikson, showing off in front of reporters - probably in St. Petersburg. Florida. With a fountain pen, Babe inscribed the photo to a sports writer she knew well...
“Keith – I didn’t really climb it! Love, Babe Didrikson”.
A superior athlete and performer, who first gained International notoriety as a Multiple Gold Medal Champion in 1932. Babe Didrikson's many athletic achievements included, All-American basketball player, swimming, diving and billiard champion. Babe later took up golf and within a few years became the Worlds Leading Golfer - including the unbelievable achievement of 17 consecutive Golf Victories in 1947. To say that Babe Didrikson was a character would be a total understatement. More than once, she would enter the Professional Golfers ladies locker room, just before a Professional tournament began - walk through the locker room door and state...
“Good Morning, Ladies, the Babe is here! Who is Coming in Second?”
THE CHARISMATIC BABE DIDRIKSON
Babe Didrikson also won the 1948, 1950 and 1954 US Women’s Open and was the Leading Money Winner 4 consecutive years (1948, 1949, 1950, 1951). At an early age, Babe was stricken with a severe form of Colon Cancer. Didrikson then underwent aggressive surgery. She fought hard to recuperate. Somehow the Great Babe Didrikson fought back to win the 1954 US Open. But sadly, the Cancer recurred, and she suffered greatly. Babe was then to engage in her Last competitive battle. She passed away at the age of only 45. Her friend, Keith Quick, to whom the above piece is inscribed and autographed was nearby. There will Never Be Another Babe Didrikson. She was one of a kind!
