Gus Grissom (1926 -1967) Featured within this Publication are the Beautiful Graphics of Grissom's Circa 1942, Official Folding Boy Scout Card. This was issued to a Youthful future Pioneer Astronaut, Virgil “Gus” Grissom, During World War II.

The Future Astronaut, Gus Grissom,  Signed his Boy Scout Card when he was 16 Years of Age - and only 5 Feet Tall. The Bold Signature - “Virgil Grissom” can be seen in the Bottom Right-Hand Corner. Gus Grissom, a Korean F-86 Saber Jet Fighter Pilot, Flew 100 Combat Missions in Korea. After Returning from Korea, the Future Astronaut became a Test Pilot at Edwards Air Force Base as well as at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

A Recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, Gus Grissom, One of the First 7 Pioneer Astronauts, Selected for the NASA Program,  Died still a Young Man on January 27, 1967. Astronaut Virgil I "Gus" Grissom, Died in a Dramatic Fire while still Sitting Inside the Apollo I Space Capsule, during a Training Exercise. The Fiery Capsule also Entombed Astronauts Ed White and Roger Chaffee. In one Dastardly Moment 3 of America's First 26 Apollo Astronauts Perished.

Despite this Major Historic Setback, NASA somehow Persevered and Ultimately Reached the Moon only 2.5 Years Later - In the Summer of 1969. Th eventual and Dramatic  Apollo 11 Moon Landing, in 1969, fulfilled the Mandated Dream of President John F. Kennedy -  to Land Men on the Moon and Return the Astronauts Safely to Earth before the Decade of the 60's was concluded.
