The Northern Italian Town of Cortina D’Ampezzo had been earmarked for the 1944 Olympic Games, but World War II Forced this Noble Plan to be Abandon. In 1956, Cortina’s persistence finally paid off. It was only 11 years post World War II, an horrendous conflict in which mega millions had senselessly perished.
