Leather Presention Case is pictured above. Featured on the Front of the Gold Medal is a Stylized Female Head, Crowned with The Olympic Rings, and Torch to her right.The verso of this Olympic Gold Medal, with a stylized snowflake, is also pictured. It is just above the handsome Leather Presentation Case.
The Northern Italian Town of Cortina D’Ampezzo had been earmarked for the 1944 Olympic Games, but World War II Forced this Noble Plan to be Abandon. In 1956, Cortina’s persistence finally paid off. It was only 11 years post World War II, an horrendous conflict in which mega millions had senselessly perished.

One of the Superstars of the 1956 Winter Games, was the Pretty American, Tenley Albright. Tenley was Already a 1952 Silver Medalist in Figure Skating and she followed that Achievement with World Championships in 1953 and 1955 before Finally Adding the coveted 1956 Olympic Gold to her Treasure Chest. And eventually the determined Ms. Albright went on to Harvard and Medical School. Tenley Albright eventually became came a respected General Surgeon in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
